ANCILLARY TASK 2 - MY FINAL ADVERTISEMENT

This is my final magazine advertisement. I have decided on this layout because I feel that it is in relation to that of a real advertisement, seen in magazines.
I decided to use this image, because it shows a direct link to my album(the inside) but also to my music video created. I think this is vital because it is showing continuity but also linking your work together.
I decided to use these colours because I used them on my CD cover, so again I am representing continuity as well as focusing and appealing to my target audience.
I decided to make this a debut album, and to include 'introducing' to support this. This is because she is seen as a young artist so this idea would be ideal.
Another think I thought is common in magazine advertisements was a review from a critic including either a company or a newspaper. With this, I also included two star ratings which are popular in regards to reviewing new released music albums.

ANCILLARY TASK 1 - MY FINAL PRODUCT

This is my final CD product:
Front Cover

Back Cover

Inside cover of my CD

ANCILLARY TASK 1 - FINAL INSIDE COVER OF CD

This is the final copy of the inside of my CD album:

I have decided to keep this as my final edition of the inside of my CD case. I think that including a competition is good because this is seen in various music CD albums when bought, as well as bringing something different to the CD.
Though I was originally going to use a simple background, I decided to change this idea  and use an image that I was going to use for the front cover. I edited this slightly to make it lighter.
From this, you can see that I have kept the continuity running throughout the CD cover, through the font, text and colour including the white and the red.

Overall, I am happy with this, because I believe it includes everything needed in this type of product while still denoting the typical genre of the music CD and how it is attractive to my target audience. This can be seen through the use of colours and the image used.

ANCILLARY TASK 1 - MY FINAL BACK COVER

After working on Photoshop to edit and create my back cover for my CD, this is my final product:

Overall, I am very pleased with the back cover I have produced for my CD cover. I believe that it includes all the conventions needed for the back cover. These include an image that relates to the artist, in this case, a track list of the album, a bar code and promotion of the artist and record label company.
I wanted to keep the back cover quite simple, by not making it too overpowered by images of the artist, which is why I chose to use an image that relates to the artist and the music video instead. In keeping up with the continuity, the guitar links to the genre of country and the theme of my song.

ANCILLARY TASK 1 - MY SPINE

This is my final spine for my CD case.
I decided to keep the spine simply because they often are, only revealing the name of the album or the artist and sometimes both.
In my case I decided just to use the name of the album, which is also the name of the song of my music video. This is because it shows a direct link to my CD and video.
On spines, there are also links to the record label, whether there is the name or a logo to represent them for promotional uses. I decided to use a logo which I located on the bottom of the spine. It is not particularly large but it represents the company.

I have used font and colours of the text the same as the CD cover because this is showing continuity.

ANCILLARY TASK 1 - MY FINAL CD FRONT COVER

This is my final version of my CD cover for my music album.

This is my final front cover for my CD album.
Overall, I am very happy with what I have produced and I feel that it includes all the conventions needed for a CD cover.
I decided to use both the name of the artist and the album on the front cover. Though this is not always used, I decided to do this, because I believe it is convenient to have both names on the cover.
I wanted to keep the front cover simple, which is why I used this specific image and text.
The red text is clear even though it overlaps the subject and also is representative of the genre of the music. It would attract my target audience, especially as I am targeting at young girls The white text has been used because it is very clear to read, especially with the darker background.
The font used is clear to read for the audience but is also somewhat script like. As the font can be seen as 'elegant' it connotes a sense of freedom and carefree. This is ideal because the album is about personal experiences which the artist needs to move on from and can be sharing from her system.
The image used itself can also connote a sense of letting go of the past for the artist. This can be shown by how she is positioned because she looks like she is looking behind her to her past experiences. This links to the main track of the album and my music video. This is showing continuity.

I decided to overlap the writing with the main subject of the image and the CD because this is something used in various CD covers especially ones of Taylor Swift. (Right)
This gives more focus on the centre and the subject of the cover.

MY FINAL VIDEO AND ANALYSIS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjIomypIeyk
After working with the music, by cutting various sections of the song out-this is my final video. As I needed to change the music so drastically, there were many shots I had to delete as a result of this.
Overall, I am happier with this video than before. This is because it was more manageable and is more likely to be a music video because of the shorter length. By making the song shorter, I was able to include more shots than beforehand, which creates variety.

The most obvious edit I used in my music video is the colour changes throughout. For the shots relating to the past I decided to use black and white colour effect. This was because it clearly shows that it is a different time period, but also to give variety to the video. This can sometimes be seen in music videos. As well as the colour edit, the persona and the costumes used in the different shows also show a clear opposition between the two.

I decided to still keep the beginning and the end of the video directly linked. This is because it connotes the artist walking into the narrative and walking away from the narrative, but also the relationship. This is also somewhat representative of the lyrics.

Throughout my music video, there isnt too many shots and changes, especially towards the beginning of the video. I tried to avoid overcrowding of changing shots because I believe it changes the tone of the video e.g. the more shots/changes is likely to refer to a more 'upbeat' song. By having some shots that are longer, they are able to connote and have direct links to the song, lyrics and the tempo of the song.

In various occasions throughout the video, I have amplified the lyrics (0:50, 2:03-2:12). Though they are not be fully amplified, they denote a direct link to the song and show that there are clear references to the lyrics. I think that it is somewhat effective because it would be less repetitive and if I was to amplify the lyrics throughout, the video would not be as effective because it is not emphasising specific lyrics of the song.

Though I am pleased with what I have created, there are some problems with the video, that I could have changed but had problems especially in regards to my actress/artist who changed the colour of her hair. This created a huge problem for me, because I was unable to film extra pieces of her head/face to use. As well as this, the programme I used to create my video became temperamental at various points whilst creating my product.
