EVALUATION - QUESTION FOUR

http://youtu.be/-R5twJ_L42c

How did you use media technologies in the construction and resrach, planning and evaluation stages?
Notes on this question:

  • Research/Planning - The internet- used to reserach different real media products and on youtube. Advantages - quick and offers lots of information in an interactive way. Disadvantages - not always reliable and can be hard to find.
My blog - used to store my process and information for my project. Good because there is no problem with losing work, but can take time to get used to.
Programmes including Microsoft Word - used to create questionnaires, receive feedback and make notes on various things.
  • Construction Video Camera and Software (Windows movie maker) - A non linear editing software, which is easy and quick to use - aware of the programme before the project. Used various things on the programme, including the visual effects and speed.
Video Camera - easy and simple to use - often hard to keep still when not using a tripod.
Ipod - Used whilst filming to increase the accuracy of the lip sync
Digital Camera - Used to take images of my possible locations and for my ancillary tasks. I then had to import these onto the computer (talk about this process) - easy to use/carry out.
Picnik.com - Specific editing site used to edit images for my ancillary tasks. Simple compared to other editing sites, especially Photoshop.
Scanner - Used to import various feedback forms and questionnaire results for audience. - This shows evidence on my blog.

EVALUATION - QUESTION THREE

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Before filming,I made notes on what to include in terms of this question:
  • Include examples of feedback I have received
  • Talk about the target audience but also classmates (technical feedback)
  • What went well?Include what they said was good about my video - The strong and clear narrative, the song choice, the persona and image of the actors, the shot types, camera movement and the lip syncing.
  • Improvements? The shakiness of the camera and the camera shot types - These are two areas that I could have improved in terms of technicality.

EVALUATION - QUESTION TWO

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

Befpre starting my evalution by answering this question, I decided to make some notes on what I would need to include in terms of this question.

Things I need to include in this answer and to think about are:
  • Addressing the audience - is this successful? how is this done? In terms of my video, I will need to talk about my target audience - how my video will appeal to them (through the actors image, costume, persona) - and initially what the video is about, Regret (a love story)
  • How do they work well together?
Talk about the continuity and style of both ancillary tasks and main products. Also mention the deign, the colours used (red, white, yellow) and how this is represented visually.

EVALUATION - IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?

This is the first question needed to answer for my evaluation. Before filming my answer to this question, I decided to make some notes on what I would be able to say. By doing this, I am able to answer the question to know what I will need to say.
By filming my response to this question, I will be able to use my products e.g. my video in my evaluation as well.

PLANNING FOR MY EVALUATION

Now that I have completed both my ancillary tasks and my music video, I need to start thinking about how I will evaluate my overall project.
I decided that instead of writing my evaluation onto my blog, that I wanted to record myself speaking to a camera and the examiner. By doing this, I am able to include all that I need to say while showing my video and ancillary tasks at the same time. This will allow me to explain myself in a more analytical way, whilst annotating my product first hand.

Before filming for my evaluation, I decided that it was a good idea to have a plan of things to include when answering the four questions in my evaluation. By doing this, I will be aware of everything I need to include when speaking about my product.

FEEDBACK ON MY MUSIC VIDEO.

Today I had the opportunity to receive a large amount of feedback from some of my target audience. This was through allowing a class of year 10's to watch my video and give me feedback on what they thought about it.
Though I am overall happy with my video, I believe that it was important to show a group of my target audience so that it would be able to see what they think about my product. By doing this, I will be able to know whether it would appeal to my target audience or not.

This is positive feedback from Year 10. It shows that I was successfully in my lip syncing, so that my artist looks like she is singing the song. As well as this, it shows that the idea of the past and the black and white effects have been recognised and liked.
Though this is short feedback, it shows that the locations I have chose for my music video have been recognised and liked and the use of the guitar was also effective in regards to the song I chose.
This feedback is positive and shows me that my shots are representative of the lyrics and song and that the actors I used increased this further by acting the role and creating the persona of the characters further.

This feedback is one of the most positive I received back. It shows that they really enjoyed watching my video and they are fans of the song and Taylor swift. This is very positive because it shows that I have aimed music video at the correct target audience and age range.

This again, shows overall positive feedback showing that the flashbacks used were effective and that my target audience has really enjoyed my video.

Overall the feedback that I received from year 10 was very positive, which I was very happy with because it shows that my target audience recognise the important things in my music video and seem very interested and appealed by my music video and song.
By looking at this as a whole, I believe that this was very successful.
